Coalition Against Poverty

We seek to empower large numbers of current and former welfare mothers and low-income working people by developing leadership through vigorous public education and action campaigns for economic survival..  We have a dual focus:  recruitment and development of low-income leaders, and effective campaigns that address the economic survival issues that our constituency faces­.  We work to strengthen the welfare safety net and to increase opportunities for affordable housing, child care, health care, education and living wage jobs.  We build grassroots power through empowering low-income voters, increasing voter participation, and holding elected officials accountable.
